Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
At next Saturday's November 14th "Journeys & Adventures" reading clubs we will begin reading at
two new partner schools, Commonwealth Avenue Elementary and Wilshire Park Elementary!
Click the above links to see where each school is located near our other partner schools.

This is the first time we are opening two new schools in the same month, which also means we need more experienced volunteers to become Site Coordinators or Site Operations Helpers to help us run our program!
We are particularly looking for experienced volunteers to fill the above roles at Commonwealth Elem. or Wilshire Park Elem., though we can use more Site Coordinators at any of our schools.
Site Coordinators do not read to the kids, but are our leaders who guide the event all morning. Site Operations Helpers assist the Site Coordinators and often also get to read to kids.
If you are ready to step up into either of those roles at any of our schools, please e-mail us at
[email protected] to help
create wonderful reading clubs!

Our "Journeys & Adventures" reading clubs are two weeks away on November 14th, and cancelations keep opening up spots!
For those who are new volunteers or only wish to read - if our volunteer spots are full when you check www.readingtokids.org, please keep checking back over the next eight days as people realize they need to cancel.
(If you are signed up for the November 14th reading clubs but can't join us, please
cancel your RSVP now so that another volunteer can take your place.)
November is
also our College Spirit month, so be sure to
wear your college's logo! The competition is on to see
which college has the most volunteers representing their alma
mater at next Saturday's reading clubs!
Note about MacArthur Park Elementary:
They still have an interim principal, so for now we have closed the RSVPs for MacArthur Park. We will email all recent MacArthur Park Elementary volunteers if we get to open the RSVPs for the Nov. 14th clubs.
For our November 14th reading clubs
we encourage you to volunteer at any of Reading to Kids'
other schools! For a map of all of our school sites,

READY TO RUN FOR A CAUSE? 13 MORE RUNNERS NEEDED FOR THE 2027 LA MARATHON, 13.1 MILE CHARITY HALF MARATHON, OR LA 5K!
Do you know any runners? Are you a
runner? Please forward this email to them
and ask them to join
Team Reading to Kids in the 2027 Los
Angeles Marathon or 13.1 Mile Charity Half Marathon on Sunday,
March 7th!
This is our 14th time running the marathon, and we're looking for seven more Charity Half Marathon runners (the last 13.1 miles of the course) and three more full marathon runners to join us in one of the best marathons in the country.
If either of those distances is too daunting, you can join us in the LA 5K (that's just 3.1 miles) near Dodger Stadium the day before the marathon on Saturday, March 6th. We have three more 5K spots left!
If you or a runner you know is interested in
becoming one of our fundraising runners or
creating a fundraising team, please email
Chris Martin at
[email protected]!
IMPORTANT NOTE: To register to run
on behalf of Reading to Kids, you
MUST receive from us a special web address
to use when registering on the Los Angeles Marathon website.

SEVEN COMPUTERS OR TABLETS WANTED TO GIVE TO KIDS!
Looking way ahead to a future reading club, we would love to give away a computer or iPad/tablet to one lucky kid at each school!
If you or your employer have any working computers that are less than 6 years old running Windows 10 or later, or any Macintosh computers less than 7 years old, or any iPads or similar tablets, we can give them to deserving kids!
We especially need working computers (CPUs), whether or not they come with monitors, keyboards, etc. Please email us at
[email protected] to help make a kid very happy!

HELP US FIND GRANTS!
Did you know Reading to Kids receives about half of our funding from corporate and foundation grants? For example, over the last five years alone seven of our volunteers helped us receive nearly $170,000 in grants from their employers!
Please check to see if your employer offers grants that Reading to Kids can apply to and let us know at [email protected]!
You may help us buy thousands of books for kids!
