Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Yancy and Anna had so much fun presenting to 1st and 2nd graders at Alta Loma Elementary's Career Day last Wednesday!

The students got a behind-the-scenes look at what really goes into our monthly reading clubs, from preparing books and coordinating volunteers to designing flyers and inviting special guests.
The students also learned about our mission and got to take part in it themselves! They helped design flyers and sticker hardcover books, which they each got to keep, and they received bundles of books to share with other kids. It was so sweet to see how excited they were to help our team spread the joy of reading!
Thank you to Alta Loma for inviting us and for giving us the chance to talk with such thoughtful, enthusiastic students!

JUNE 13TH SUMMER READING CLUBS
Our June 13th "Friendship & Fun" reading clubs are probably still filled, but please keep checking
www.readingtokids.org to see if any new spots have opened as people cancel.
(If you are signed up for the June 13th reading clubs but can't join us, please
cancel your RSVP now so that another volunteer can take your place.)
Our summer reading clubs are smaller, of course, so mark your calendars for July 11th and August 8th, too. Help us keep books in the minds and hands of kids throughout the summer!
SCHOOL AMBASSADORS WANTED 6/8 & 6/9, LAST DAYS OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!
The school year ends on June 10th, the Wednesday before our June 13th reading clubs. Thus, Monday, June 8th & Tuesday, June 9th we need ambassadors to visit any of our schools for an hour during the school day to encourage kids to come to the June 13th reading clubs.
It's a lot of fun, so please e-mail us at info@readingtokids.org if you can be an ambassador for an hour either of those days!

THANK YOU, AHMANSON FOUNDATION!
We thank The Ahmanson Foundation for their 11th grant they awarded us in support of our program!
Together their support and your dedication to the kids we serve helps inspire a love of reading, thereby enriching their lives and opportunities for future success! Partners like The Ahmanson Foundation make our reading clubs possible as we create community around books in Los Angeles!

HELP US FIND GRANTS!
Did you know Reading to Kids receives about
half of our funding from corporate and foundation
grants? For example, over the last five years alone
seven of our volunteers helped us receive $160,000 in
grants from their employers!
Please check to see if your employer offers grants
that Reading to Kids can apply to and let us know at
info@readingtokids.org!
You may help us buy thousands of books for kids!
