Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Even though Saturday was the first day of their Spring Break, 397 kids, 188 volunteers, 52 parents, and 26 teachers & staff helped to make our April 12th reading clubs a success! 13% of the entire student body of our eight schools attended!

In these four photos you can see volunteer Paul Heinzman with his sample books he created. After he and his reading partner read aloud the 3rd grade book, take a look at some of the books the kids then created using the blank crafts books Paul brought for them. Look closely to see a book that features a chicken!

Two Major Reading Clubs Milestone Earners!

At Gratts we had two volunteers reach big milestones on Saturday! Russ Chittenden (left) and Jennifer Grannis (right) received their 160th and 130th Reading Clubs milestone certificates respectively! Click on either image to see it full size, and we thank both for their years of reading with us!

HELP! MANY OPERATIONS VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED NEXT MONTH ON MAY 10TH

With only three employees at Reading to Kids, you can see we rely on dedicated Site Coordinators to keep our program running smoothly each month.

We urgently need experienced volunteers to take on more leadership with us by checking in volunteers as they arrive, helping train new and returning volunteers, being a GLC, or especially being a Site Operations Helper at any of our schools.

If you can help in any of those roles, please e-mail us at info@readingtokids.org to help create wonderful reading clubs!

HELP US FIND GRANTS!

Patricia Bergey story at her employer, Numerator

Did you know Reading to Kids receives about half of our funding from corporate and foundation grants? For example, over the last five years alone seven of our volunteers helped us receive $142,000 in grants from their employers!

Please check to see if your employer offers grants that Reading to Kids can apply to and let us know at info@readingtokids.org! You may help us buy thousands of books for kids!

PLEASE HELP US FIND
BINGO PRIZE & AUCTION ITEMS

Reading to Kids' Legendary Bingo fundraiser at Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood

Our next Legendary Bingo fundraisers at Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood will be on May 21st and in the fall, so we need your help gathering prizes for auctions and bingo winners!

To help you get started, here is information about Reading to Kids to share with potential donors, as well as a donation form for them to complete.

We especially enjoy awarding gift certificates, amusement park and theater tickets, gift bags, and autographed items! Anything unique is great, too!

If you work at or have a connection with products or services to offer, please help us by asking for a donation to our events.
