Help! 101 MORE READERS NEEDED IN JUST 9 DAYS FOR JAN. 11TH READING CLUBS!
Yikes! With all the holiday events of the past two weeks and colleges being out of session, we now urgently need 101 more readers to join us for our January 11th reading clubs.
Here is how you can help us meet our commitment to the kids!
- If you haven't already, please visit our
website now and sign up.
-
Share and join our
January 11th reading club event via Facebook to let
your friends know the fun you'll be up to this Saturday!
-
Whether or not you can volunteer that Saturday, tweet, post to Bluesky, Facebook, and Instagram @readingtokids your
friends and followers. Here's a sample
post you can use:
"My favorite volunteer organization, Reading to Kids, is looking for more volunteers for their reading clubs
on Saturday, Jan. 11th. The theme is "Mysteries & New Adventures".
Join me at ###
Elementary School for a fun, heartwarming morning of reading to elementary school kids near downtown LA. To join me, sign up online today at www.readingtokids.org." If you write your own
post, please be sure to include the following two
things:
- The reading clubs are Saturday morning, January 11th, near downtown LA
- Volunteers must sign up online by 3pm Friday, Jan. 10th, at
www.readingtokids.org
If you have people in mind who you think would really
like to read with us, tag them in your post. It will
alert them to the reading clubs and show up in their
friends' feeds.
-
Copy from our easy message template at
http://www.readingtokids.org/News/SampleVolRecruit.pdf
to encourage people you know to sign up to read with us!
-
Print out this flyer at
http://readingtokids.org/ProMaterials/VolunteerTearOffFlyer.pdf
and post it somewhere others will see it. Make it a
personal and fun social event by including the school at
which you'll be reading or encouraging them to read at your favorite of our eight partner schools!
(If you
have signed up and can't make it,
please cancel to make room for another volunteer.)
A DOZEN LEAD VOLUNTEERS WANTED: SITE COORDINATORS, SITE OPERATIONS HELPERS, GLCS, TRAINING COORDINATORS, AND CHECK-IN HELPERS
For these reading clubs we very much need more of our experienced volunteers to help train new and returning volunteers, be a GLC, check in arriving volunteers, or especially be a second or third Site Coordinator
at any of our schools.
If you have read with us at least a few times and can help in any of those roles, please e-mail us at
info@readingtokids.org to help
create wonderful reading clubs!

GOT A NEW COMPUTER OR TABLET? GIVE YOUR OLD ONE TO A KID ON JAN. 11TH!
At these January reading clubs we would love to give away a computer or iPad/tablet to one lucky kid at each school.
If you or your employer have any working computers that are less than 6 years old running Windows 10 or later, or any Macintosh computers less than 7 years old, or any iPads or similar tablets, we can give them to deserving kids!
We especially need working computers (CPUs), whether or not they come with monitors, keyboards, etc. Please email us at
info@readingtokids.org to help make a kid very happy!
