To all the Reading to Kids volunteers:
I volunteered at the November reading clubs again after 16 years, as I don't live in LA anymore.
I was involved with Reading to Kids since the very early days, and I remember watching my hand go up when they asked for a Site Coordinator to open up a new school. I was hooked immediately and dived in, eventually serving on the Board and as Fundraising Chair.
It was amazing to see the same energy I remember - new volunteers raving about their experience, many experienced volunteers who help the whole operation run every month - and most importantly, kids engaged and getting excited about reading.
And we still get free apps at El Cholo!
It fills me with pride that I helped to establish this great organization, and I am honored that all of you are keeping it going and loving it.
A huge thanks to the staff, volunteers, donors, and everyone who supports Reading to Kids!
