Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Volunteers needed at Reading to Kids

September is one of our biggest months, and the September 12th reading clubs need you and your friends! We need 153 more volunteers, so please join us and help recruit them!

To get started, sign up today. Then join our September 12th Facebook event so your friends will see that you will be attending.

Please also email and post on your Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. that we need more volunteers.

You can use this easy email template to reach out to your friends, family, and co-workers, but however you reach them, be sure to tell them:

1) The reading clubs are the morning of September 12th near Downtown LA
2) Volunteers must sign up online at www.readingtokids.org

3) The school at which you will be reading

Please also print out this flyer and post it in heavily populated locations such as coffee shops, the gym, your office or other various community centers. Make it a personal and fun social event by including the school at which you'll be reading.

We are once again excited to give away school supplies at the September 12th reading clubs.

If you happen to have the following laying around (or want to pick some up at back-to-school sales), these are the specific items we are looking for:

100 more binder folders
100 3-ring binders and/or packages of filler paper
15 3-ring pencil pouches

Stores such as Office Depot, Staples and Target are promoting great back-to-school specials. If you're going to be there anyway, why not pick up a folder or ten?

Please email us at info@readingtokids.org or call us at (310) 479-7455 if you have any supplies to donate.

It's the second week of school, which means during these next few weeks we are invited to promote Reading to Kids at our partner schools' Back-to-School nights and through classroom walkthroughs!

We'll supply everything you need, including what to say. Although it's great if you can speak Spanish, it is not necessary. All of our parent materials are bilingual and there's always someone who can translate for you at the school.

The kids delight in seeing our Ambassadors, often calling out "Reading to Kids!" when they see us!

If you can be an Ambassador, please email us at info@readingtokids.org or call (310) 479-7455.

Join Team Reading to Kids in the 2016 Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon! Be a part of team Reading to Kids as you run in one of the best marathons in the country on Sunday, February 14th (Valentine's Day).

You can run either the full marathon or a half-marathon, and the dollars you raise will go to support our monthly reading clubs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: to register to run on behalf of Reading to Kids, you MUST receive from us a special web address to use when registering on the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon website.

Meet fellow volunteers and plan our social events at our next Volunteer Relations Committee meeting this Monday, August 31st. For details and the Evite link, click here to see our online calendar.
