Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Our March 8th Reading Clubs are the day after tomorrow, and we have just a handful of spots remaining. If you're planning to volunteer with us on the 8th, visit our website TODAY and sign up! You can keep checking our website for openings today and tomorrow morning.

If you're signed up but can't join us, please click here to cancel before 3pm on Friday so that someone else may take your place.

On Saturday we'll have some very talented musicians performing. Click here to find out who will be performing at your school - you may even know them personally!

The ASICS LA Marathon is this Sunday, March 9th, and Team Reading to Kids can use your support!

Please encourage them by donating to our valiant runners' fundraising pages as they strive towards raising money for Reading to Kids!

Team Reading to Kids 2014 ASICS LA Marathon

They have already raised more than $10,000! If you can donate a buck a mile to your favorite runner, that will help fuel them towards the finish line!

We've started planning this year's fundraising events, and we need your help gathering prizes!

Our events are more fun and raise more money if we have great prizes to award, raffle, and/or auction. Big prizes. Little prizes. Serious prizes. Silly prizes. We need them all! Check out our list of prizes from last year's Silent Auction for ideas.

If you have any prizes, or you know where to get them, let us know! We'd love to have something fabulous for the Silent Auction or for our grand prize Bingo winner -- anything unique or with an autograph is always welcome!

To help you get started, here is a generic donation letter to give to a manager, supervisor, or friend who may be able to donate a gift, product, or service, tips on how to best approach a business or person to donate to our events, and a donation form for the donor to complete.

In the past we have had gift certificates, products, services, and tickets to fun events. If you work at or have a connection with a restaurant, retail store, or for a company with products or services to offer, please help us by asking for a donation to our events.

Please also let us know to whom you reach out so we don't accidentally duplicate Special Events Committee efforts in contacting businesses.

We need a well-known, headliner comedian for our April 29th Benefit Comedy Night! If you personally know a headliner comedian who would be interested and available for this event at the Hollywood Improv on April 29th, please email us at inforeadingtokids.org.

We'd also like to have a celebrity host for either our Comedy Night or as a bingo caller for our annual Legendary Bingo Night on June 11th. Please email us if you can personally reach out to any celebrities who would like to help your favorite good cause!

For the 10th year in a row we are privileged to thank The Capital Group Companies Charitable Foundation for its generous support!  They recently awarded us a $10,000 grant for our program, once again joining us in our efforts to spread the love of literature to the thousands of children we serve.

The Capital Group Companies Charitable Foundation has been a valued partner for a decade, and we especially thank Taskforce member Dalet Brady for her inspiring work towards securing this grant yet again.

Thanks, and we'll see you on Saturday!
