Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Our 321 kids and 199 volunteers were stars at our "Lights! Camera! Action!" reading clubs on Saturday, and the supporting cast of 17 teachers and 52 parents was simply terrific. Our raffles for fun prizes and a computer ensured a great time for everyone

On Saturday, September 8th it's back-to-school time, with bigger clubs and many more kids. Please click here if you would like to join us as we explore "Faraway Places."

THANK YOU TARGET STORES

Last month we thanked Target Corporation for their generous grant, and this month we would like to thank Target stores for their separate grant of $2,000!

Reading to Kids is honored to be a continued part of Target's reading initiative.

COMEDY NIGHT ON OCT. 2ND

On October 2nd, Reading to Kids is hosting our annual Comedy Night Fundraiser at the Hollywood Improv, so please save that date in your calendars.

We can really use more help planning this great event, especially with contacting businesses for silent auction items.

If you are interested in helping, please join the Reading to Kids Taskforce Special Events Committee, or call us at the Reading to Kids office for more details.

Anyone who would like to help is encouraged to join us, and we are especially interested in hearing from those volunteers who have helped us with past Comedy Nights.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED

We are once again excited to give away school supplies at the September 8th reading clubs. We were fortunate enough to get enough little backpacks for all the kids in Kindergarten to 2nd grade, but we are still short on supplies for 3rd to 6th grade.

If you happen to have the following laying around (or want to pick some up at back-to-school sales), we would love to take them off your hands:

NEW
Erasers (Pearl type)
Mechanical pencils (especially "fun" ones)
Spiral notebooks
Binder folders
Pencil boxes

Please reply to this email or call the office if you have any supplies to donate. September is always a fun month, and made much more so with the giveaways!

Thanks very much!

Sincerely,

Charlie Orchard and Skylar Lenox
