(author of Hoot, April 2005 Reading Club Book Selection), in conversation with LA Times staff writer
Carolyn Kellogg.
When: August 17th, 7:30 - 8:00 pm (registration); 8:00 - 9:30 pm (program)
Where: Bergamot Station (Track 16), Santa Monica, CA
Tickets: $20 General Admission, $35 General Admission including Carl Hiaasen's book, $95 Reserved Seating, Carl Hiaasen's book and reception before event, 6:30-7:30pm

SUPPORT LA ELEMENTARY AND READING TO KIDS VOLUNTEERS AT THE NISEI PARADE
The 70th Annual Nisei Week culminates Sunday night with the Nisei Grand Parade and Nebuta Festival. Come out to support the Los Angeles Elementary Drill Team and Reading to Kids volunteers as they participate in this dazzling event.

WHEN YOU AWAKE'S FREE FOR ALL FESTIVAL
Reading to Kids has the distinct honor of being one of three community organizations to participate in When You Awake's Free For All: A Hands on Music and Arts Festival, this Sunday, August 15th at the Echo and Echoplex. Reading to Kids will be promoting volunteer opportunities to the attendees. Akron/Family, Langhorne Slim and Active Child are set to headline with 15 + bands performing throughout the course of the day. Come by our table and say Hello!
