Weekly Update
October 6, 2008

Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Thanks to everyone who has signed up for Saturday's reading clubs.  We still need 120 more volunteers for our October 11th "Halloween, Magic, and Mysteries" Reading Clubs!  Click here to sign up.

We have some fun books to go along with our theme this month. Thanks Politi Elementary staff for helping to pick out our October books!  Take a peek at you will be reading on Saturday:

*First graders will help Papa Bear make Bear Country's Halloween fun for everyone in Stan and Jan Berenstain's The Berenstain Bears Go on a Ghost Walk.

*Third graders will hear the story of Jack Skellington and his plan to bring Christmas to Halloweenland in The Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton.

*Fifth graders will solve a mystery with Nancy Drew in Carolyn Keene's The Mystery at Lilac Inn.

For a complete list of this month's books and more information on proposed discussion and craft ideas, please click here.

To help bring our theme to life, we will be featuring a live magic show during the close of the reading clubs!

2008 ANNUAL FUND DRIVE
"BE PART OF OUR STORY"

The 2008 Annual Fund Drive, which was kicked off at the September reading clubs, is almost at the half-way point!

THANK YOU to those who have already sent in contributions!  Your support plays a crucial role in helping us work toward inspiring underserved children with a love of reading.

In 2008, we have received over $17,500 in donations from individuals and have a total of 185 donors.  However, we are still a long way from our goal of $40,000 and 600 donors.

Help us bring the reading clubs to more kids by making this year's Annual Fund Drive a success!  Please let your friends and family know how they can make a huge difference in the community, and please consider making your own donation to Reading to Kids.
