Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Before heading off to enjoy your Labor Day weekend, make sure to sign up for the September 8th Reading Clubs!  We still need over 250 volunteers to make the reading clubs a success.  Click here to sign up!

This month marks our first reading clubs at Los Angeles Elementary School, bringing the total number of schools Reading to Kids serves to seven!  Help inspire students at Los Angeles with a love of reading by signing up to volunteer for this momentous occasion!

Please RSVP if you can make it to the reading clubs this month.  In addition, if you have friends who may be interested in volunteering, please encourage them to sign up as well! Click here for a sample e-mail to send out to friends.

Would your co-workers love to join you at the reading clubs? Is your campus group looking for a fun volunteer opportunity? Does your alumni organization need an event to attend together? If the answer is yes, it is time to sign them up for Reading to Kids!

Reading to Kids Volunteer Groups recruit volunteers for the reading clubs. In addition to a fantastic volunteer experience, groups who regularly recruit and bring volunteers are thanked on our website as "Friends & Supporters." For examples, check out Clark Construction, Stanford Alumni Community Service Center, and UCLA Circle K.

If you have a connection with a business, alumni association, campus group, or other organization whose members might enjoy volunteering with Reading to Kids, start recruiting now!

Join Reading to Kids on September 8th for a morning of reading, crafts, and inspiration!

Reading to Kidsí mission is to inspire underserved children with a love of reading. On the second Saturday of each month, Reading to Kids conducts reading clubs at seven Los Angeles area elementary schools. At the reading clubs, volunteers receive training and breakfast on-site, then pairs of volunteers are matched with 4 to 8 children and spend about an hour and a half reading aloud to the kids and working on a craft project. Volunteers are in by 9 and out by 12!

This is a fun and easy way to help out in the community! Please sign up for this opportunity on our website at www.readingtokids.org. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Reading to Kids at (310) 479-7455.
