Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Reading to Kids is planning a Music Night for this fall! The event is tentatively planned for Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. We have two acts confirmed: The Four Postmen (www.fourpostmen.com), who did a fundraiser for us a few years back, and Henry Phillips (www.henryphillips.com), who performed at our Comedy Night this year.
We are working on getting other performers, but we need to pick a venue ASAP! In order to determine how big a venue to get, we need you to respond! Click here to respond to our Evite.
By RSVPing "Yes" now, you are guaranteeing yourself a ticket if you later choose to buy one (no commitment required). If you want to reserve the option of buying more than one ticket, please indicate that on Evite. We'll use this information to update our Music Night page: http://readingtokids.org/News/20071106_MusicNight.html.
We hope that this will be a really fun night. If it works well, it could become an annual tradition like our Comedy Night!
SEPTEMBER "FANTASY FOLKLORE & FAIRY TALES" READING CLUBS
Come one, come all to the September 8th Reading Clubs! We still have plenty of open spaces at all schools, including our NEW school Los Angeles Elementary, so click here to sign yourself up, and invite a friend to join you!
This month's theme is "Fantasy, Folklore, and Fairy Tales," and we have some book selections you're bound to love. Kindergarteners will discover an unlikely guest in the library in Michelle Knudsen's Library Lion, while 4th graders will hear poems about dragons in The Dragons are Singing Tonight by Jack Prelutsky. Click here for synopses, discussion questions, and craft ideas for this month's books.
We hope to see you in September!
FALL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Reading to Kids has fall internship opportunities!
Learn the ins and outs of running a small nonprofit and enjoy a relaxed and fun working environment by joining Reading to Kids as an intern! Interns support the day-to-day operations of the office in addition to taking on individual, long-term projects. Projects include but are not limited to: grant writing, program evaluation, volunteer coordination, recruitment material design, community and school relations, and reading club operations.
