Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Sign up to read to kids for Read Across America this Friday!
The National Education Association's Read Across America is an annual celebration of literacy that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday.
Politi Elementary School and Humphreys Elementary School will be celebrating Read Across America Day this Friday and they need your help! They are looking for volunteers to spend a couple of hours reading aloud to students.
Politi's event will be held on Friday, March 2nd, during their after-school program, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. To sign up to volunteer, please contact Lourdes Manriquez, Politi's LA's BEST Coordinator, at (213) 480-1244 ext. 219.
Humphreys event will take place during school hours (8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.). If you would like to volunteer at Humphreys, please contact Lupe Carrandi, Humphrey's Literacy Coach, at (323) 981-9948. Humphreys is located just east of downtown Los Angeles (500 S. Humphreys Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90022).
MARCH "MUSIC" READING CLUBS!
The March Reading Clubs will feature a "Music" theme and we will have musical performances at the close of the reading clubs at all five schools! Click here for a list of performers.

TAKE A HIKE WITH READING TO KIDS!
Join Reading to Kids volunteers for a hike in Temescal Canyon with great views and a waterfall!
WHEN: Sunday, March 11th, 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Temescal Gateway Park
DISTANCE: 4 miles roundtrip, about 2 hours
PARKING: $5
RSVP: Evite
We will meet at 10:00 a.m to hike up to the waterfall and stop for pictures and snacks. Friends and family are always welcome. The event will be cancelled in the event of rain. For more information (including directions) or to RSVP, click here.
