Howdy!

The May 8th Clubs are only a few days away, and we're still in need of many more volunteers! Please click here to sign up for next month!

We need extra volunteers at Noble this month to read to kids, as we're anticipating many more than usual -- help us out by forwarding this e-mail to your friends and family!

Our first Annual Recruitment Drive kicks off this May, and we'd love to have every active volunteer recruit at least one friend to fill out an online application and volunteer with us -- we need to get more volunteers on board before our great college and university groups go on summer vacation! We'll have more info on the "ARD" next week, but start your recruitment now!

Magic's in the Air!

In case you've forgotten, R2K's Fifth Birthday Bash is coming up on May 26th, and it's going to be a great time! We're privileged to have the donated time of two talented Magic Castle magicians, Rich Cowley and Raul Fernandez!

Rich, a card-trick magician extraordinaire, will wow us during the 7:00-8:00 hour. Raul, the former principal of Gratts Elementary and one of the original founders of Reading to Kids, also happens to be a sleight of hand wizard! Be sure to come to the event early so you don't miss out on their shows!

Don't forget your checkbook this Saturday -- you can buy your tickets at the Reading Clubs! For more details or to purchase your tickets via mail, please click here! Tickets are $20 each ahead of time and $25 at the door, and each ticket gets you one raffle ticket. Extra raffle tickets are $5 each or $20 for five. Please buy your tickets early so we can get an accurate head count for the party.

We haven't sold many raffle tickets yet, so if you purchase extras you've got a great chance of winning one of our great donated prizes, including museum memberships, Dodger tickets, and theme park passes!

Baja Fresh Wrap-Up!

A BIG thank-you to all the volunteers and friends of Reading to Kids who showed up to help out and raise funds on Wednesday, April 28th.

In particular, outstanding volunteers Matthew Jones and Calvin Chu and our three stellar interns, Natalie Liberatore, Megan Hanly, and Sharla Robinson, deserve extra thanks for their participation and planning! Thanks as well to UCLA's Alpha Phi Omega, which sent a group out to eat with us!

We raised a bit of money, but more importantly, spread the word about R2K and had a great time -- thanks for your enthusiasm!

All the best,
