Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Esperanza Elem. 3rd graders enjoying the book being read aloud

Our People & Places Around the World clubs on April 12th are currently full, but please keep checking for new openings this week and next week as people realize they need to cancel.

(If you have signed up and can't make it after all, please cancel your RSVP online immediately to make room for another volunteer.)

A FEW "ROAMING READERS" NEEDED AT
MAC. PARK AND TENTH ST.
FOR APRIL 12TH CLUBS!

We have such a great relationship with our partner schools that at these reading clubs we have an exciting opportunity for a few of our experienced volunteers to bring your joy of reading to more kids!

During the reading clubs on April 12th, MacArthur Park and Tenth St. are also holding Saturday School (Saturday Intervention) for students who need additional academic help. The principals want us to bring Reading to Kids to these students, too, and we need a few more experienced volunteers to help make that happen!

We are invited to read to those Saturday School students for 20 - 30 minutes in each Saturday School classroom. Our Saturday School "roaming readers" probably won't do crafts with the kids, but will instead "roam" to two or three classrooms to read aloud one of this month's books, then give each kid their own prize book, as we usually do. Their teacher will remain in the classroom, too.

Since that April 12th Saturday morning is also the first day of Spring Break for the kids, roaming readers will probably get to read to more kids than we are expecting at the "regular" reading clubs that morning! This is also a great way to read to kids who probably don't come to our reading clubs!

E-mail us at info@readingtokids.org if you are an experienced volunteer with us and can be a Roaming Reader that morning! If you are already signed up at a different school, we'll even happily move you from your current school to MacArthur Park or Tenth St.!

BECOME A LEADER
AT OUR APR. 12TH READING CLUBS

Site Coordinators at White Elementary

We also need more of our experienced volunteers to help train new and returning volunteers, be a GLC, check in volunteers, or especially be a Site Operations Helper at any of our schools.

If you can help in any of those roles, please visit our home page at www.readingtokids.org and submit your email address in the yellow box, as usual!

Then, e-mail us at info@readingtokids.org to tell us the above role you would like to take on to help create wonderful reading clubs!

READING TO KIDS AMBASSADORS
WANTED NEXT THURSDAY, 4/10 & FRIDAY, 4/11!

April Reading Clubs on poster

Since these April reading clubs fall on the first day of the kids' Spring Break, it is especially important we remind the kids to join us that Saturday morning!

Thus, next Thursday or Friday for an hour or two between 7:30am and 2:30pm, we need your help conducting quick classroom walk-throughs and/or passing out flyers to encourage kids to come to our April 12th reading clubs.

We are especially looking for volunteers available from about 1:15 - 2:45 next Thursday, 4/10, or volunteers who can pass out flyers to parents when school lets out at around 12:30pm on Friday, 4/11.

It's an exciting experience and we'll provide everything you need. Please reply to info@readingtokids.org or call the office at (310) 479-7455 if you can be an Ambassador for an hour or two next week!

3 COMPUTERS OR TABLETS WANTED
TO GIVE TO KIDS!

At our April reading clubs we would love to give away a computer or iPad/tablet to one lucky kid at each school, but we need three more of them to make that happen!

If you or your employer have any working computers that are less than 6 years old running Windows 10 or later, or any Macintosh computers less than 7 years old, or any iPads or similar tablets, we can give them to deserving kids!

We especially need working computers (CPUs), whether or not they come with monitors, keyboards, etc. Please email us at info@readingtokids.org to help make a kid very happy!

Team Reading to Kids runners fundraising poster

We thank the 248 individual donors so far who have donated to our 2025 Team Reading to Kids marathon and 5K runners! If you haven't yet, please help them push towards their goal of raising $20,000 for us!

Our runners already did the hard part, now it's up to you to donate and help them reach the fundraising finish line! Every dollar supports our reading clubs and helps inspire kids with a love of reading.

Celebrate Team Reading to Kids' hard work by donating by tomorrow, April 4th, at http://readingtokids.org/marathon.

They are still recovering from running 320 miles back on 3/16 and 3/17 at the 2025 Los Angeles Marathon and Big 5K! Click this link to our 5K runner Mary Wang's vlog on YouTube to see a 5K charity runners' racing day experience!

Head over towards the bottom of their website and scroll down to see a slideshow of our runners before, during, and after the marathon. We guarantee you will be delighted by one of the last two slides!
