Reading to Kids News
January 16, 2020

Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Even though the kids and teachers were still on their Winter Recess, 260 kids, 236 volunteers, 59 parents, & 25 teachers & staff helped to make our January 11th reading clubs a success!

The Author & Illustrator Read With Us!

On Saturday we were also delighted and proud to have Suzanne and Max Lang, the author and illustrator of Grumpy Monkey, read aloud with us their 1st grade book!

They joined us at MacArthur Park Elementary to read to the kids there. In the top photo Suzanne the author holds their Grumpy Monkey puppet, and in the bottom photo Max the illustrator (wearing a baseball cap) shows the kids how to draw their own Grumpy Monkey.

Please sign up early for our Feb. 8th reading clubs! RSVP for our "People & Places Around the World" reading clubs here, then "join" the February 8th reading club event on Facebook and invite your friends!

Our March 14th reading clubs feature "Music & Entertainment", and we are looking for musicians to perform at each of our eight partner schools. In the past we've had everything from Korean drum troupes to electric violin players to marching bands!
