We're eagerly getting everything ready for this Saturday's "Arts and Entertainment" Reading Clubs!
We'll have movie posters and other prizes to give away to the kids, as well as a
refurbished computer to give away to one lucky kid at each school.
Spots will likely open up from now until the RSVPs close at 3pm tomorrow, so check back often to sign up.
If you previously signed up
but can not join us, be sure to
cancel
online
to open your spot for someone else. Please note that the deadline for canceling is 3pm tomorrow.
With the beginning of the 2014-15 school year next month, from
now through Sept. 19th we'll have more than a dozen
opportunities to publicize Reading to Kids at our
partner schools. To do that, we need your help as a
Reading to Kids Ambassador.
There are
three different ways you can help out:
Kindergarten Orientations, Teacher
Breakfast Deliveries, and
Back-to-School-Nights.
We'll supply everything you need, including what to say at the
Kindergarten Orientations. Although it's great if you can speak
Spanish (even a little), all of our parent materials are
bilingual, and there's always someone who can translate for you
at the school.
These events set the course for the rest of the year and are
a wonderful way to interact with the kids and their parents, as
well as to honor the teachers. The more we publicize at
the beginning of the school year, the more children and families
we'll serve all year.
Please email us at inforeadingtokids.org or call the office at (310) 479-7455 if you want to
know more about being an Ambassador and the schedule of events.

THANK YOU YAHOO EMPLOYEE FOUNDATION!
We are delighted to thank the
Yahoo Employee Foundation (YEF) for their generous $15,000 grant to support
Reading to Kids!
YEF is a corporate advised fund of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and their grant will go towards helping us share our enthusiasm for reading with the thousands of children we read to every month.
Our special thanks go to Reading to Kids volunteers
Lisa Giaffo and Julie Matrat for being our Yahoo Employee Champions for this donation!
