Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Thanks to the 537 kids, 246 volunteers, 127 parents, and 24
teachers and administrators who made the July Reading Clubs a
success! It was great to see new Kindergarten students
joining the Reading Clubs and some of the graduated 5th graders
come back for another Reading Club before they head off to
middle school!
As the summer continues, the Reading Clubs will continue to have fewer volunteer spots available due to fewer children being around during the school break. Please sign up early to guarantee yourself a spot for the "Books and Movies" Reading Clubs on August 14th.

WALK WITH LOS ANGELES ELEMENTARY IN THE NISEI PARADE
Los Angeles Elementary School has been invited to be a part of the Grand Parade at the 70th Annual Nisei Week Japanese Festival in Little Tokyo on Sunday, August 15th. The students, teachers, and staff at Los Angeles
have invited Reading to Kids volunteers to join them in the honor of walking in the parade.
Inspired by the Leo Lionni classic
Swimmy (a Reading to Kids book selection in 2003), the Los Angeles Elementary Drill Team will walk in the parade with Swimmy the Fish lanterns. We are looking for about 12 volunteers to help out at this
event. In particular we are looking for a couple of TALL folks to help with the front of the drill team.

Thanks, and we hope to see you soon!!
