Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
As we begin a new year, we want to thank all Reading to Kids supporters for your help in inspiring children with a love of reading.
2008 was a great year for Reading to Kids! We expanded our reading clubs to Alta Loma Elementary, and we broke our student, parent, and volunteer attendance records in December with 1,569 students, 373 parents, and 538 volunteers!
Over the course of the year, we gave out over 16,600 prize books to children and their families, helping to build their home libraries. We also donated 2,359 hardcover books to our participating schools' libraries.
In 2008, 2,414 individuals volunteered their time at the reading clubs. We also had a record number of donors this year with 853 (and counting)!
Thanks to your help, thousands of children increased their enthusiasm for reading, added books to their home and school libraries, and improved attitudes towards reading and speaking in English. Each of you has made this possible!
Thanks again to all of you! We look forward to an even better 2009!
