Weekly News Update
January 2, 2008

Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

As we begin a new year, we want to thank all Reading to Kids supporters for your help in inspiring children with a love of reading.

2007 was an exciting year for Reading to Kids!  We expanded our reading clubs to two new schools, White and Los Angeles.  We broke student attendance records in December with 1,493 students, volunteer records in November with 474 volunteers and parent numbers in October with 307 parents!

We brought special guests to the reading clubs including musicians in March, magicians in October, and Santa in December.  Over 65 colleges were represented for our College Spirit Day reading clubs, and we gave away school supplies to all attending students in July.

Over the course of the year, we gave out 13,813 prize books to children and their families, helping to build their home libraries and continue reading at home.  We donated 1,924 hardcover books to our participating schools' libraries.

We also hit our goal of 639 donors in 2007 with more donations arriving each day!

Thanks to your help, thousands of children increased their enthusiasm for reading, added books to their home libraries, and improved attitudes towards reading and speaking in English.  Each of you has made this possible!

Thanks again to all of you! We look forward to an even better 2008!
