Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

This past Saturday, 472 volunteers each gave three hours of their time to read to a whopping 1,493 kids, making the December reading clubs our best attended event in Reading to Kids history

Thanks to everyone who volunteerd on Saturday!  Unfortunately, we were short on volunteers this month, and some of our class sizes were particularly large.  If you are able to attend our January 12th Reading Clubs, click here to sign up now!

A special thanks to our volunteer Santas for helping to bring holiday cheer to the reading clubs.

OPERATION SANTA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Calling All Santas and Mrs. Clauses!

Operation Santa Claus, a project of the Pasadena Jaycees, brings some Christmas cheer to over 3,500 kids in the Pasadena area by sending volunteers dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus to deliver toys on Christmas Eve.  Volunteers sort toys for children on your route, pack a car full of toys, and deliver them to kids throughout Pasadena and surrounding communities. Toys and wardrobe are provided by the project along with lunch and dinner. No experience necessary!


DATE: Sunday, December 24th

TIME:  9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Varied Shifts)

LATEST READING TO KIDS STATISTICS

Through December 2007: 

1,368 people are current volunteers of Reading to Kids (volunteered at least once within the last six months) 

5,668 people are current subscribers to our email update list.

Since May 1999...

7,492 people have volunteered as readers with Reading to Kids; 
9,510 hardcover books have been donated to the schools' libraries;
54,194 books have been given directly to participating children for their home libraries; and volunteers have spent 59,226 hours volunteering at the reading clubs (for a "dollar value" of $1,048,973).
