Weekly News Update
October 29, 2007

Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

The 2007 Annual Fund Drive, which ends at the November 10th reading clubs, has passed the half way point!

THANK YOU to those who have already sent in contributions!  So far in 2007 we have received over $15,000 in donations from over 175 individual donors.  However, we are still a long way from our goal of $35,000 and 600 donors.

Your donation, whatever the size, MATTERS!  Help us make great strides in inspiring underserved children with a love of reading by making your own donation to Reading to Kids.

Donating is easy. Simply make your check out to Reading to Kids and mail it to our office:

   Reading to Kids
   1600 Sawtelle Boulevard, Suite 210
   Los Angeles, CA 90025

If you prefer to donate by credit card, you may do so at http://readingtokids.org/Donations/index.html.

You can also be a hero by asking your friends, family and coworkers to join in our mission by making a contribution to Reading to Kids.  Supporters who collect 10 donations of any size will be recognized on our website as a Reading to Kids Superhero!  Click here for additional resources including our Reading to Kids Superhero form, fundraising tips, FAQs, a sample e-mail, and more!

NOVEMBER 10TH READING CLUBS: COLLEGE SPIRIT DAY!

Join Reading to Kids for our "College Spirit Day" reading clubs on Saturday, November 10th.  All volunteers are encouraged to wear their favorite school's gear.  The school represented by the most volunteers will be crowned the grand champion of the 2007 Reading to Kids college face-off and earn bragging rights for the year. But most importantly, the kids will see the volunteers' school pride and the value of a college education.

For most of the kids who attend the reading clubs, if they go to college, they will be the first in their families to do so. According to teachers and administrators at our partner schools, kids who begin thinking about college early are more likely to end up there. Exposure to college students and alumni is a great way to get kids thinking about their academic futures, so show your school pride and make a positive impact that will last a lifetime!  Click here to sign up.
