Dear Friends,
These days we often hear on the
news about how this group or that group spent so much money to support or oppose this
or that appointee or ballot measure. When I hear these things, I think about
all the great volunteers of Reading to Kids, who are actually out in the
community, helping and improving the lives of others?not just talking about it.
I also think about what we could do if just a fraction of those dollars came to
us.
We are nearing the end of our Annual Fund Drive,
and we are still short of our goal of $25,000 and 350 individual
donations. Every single donation is important, no
matter how large or small, since foundations and corporations that fund us look
for evidence that we have broad community support. Even a single gift of $10
can buy prize books for one classroom of children?the books that the kids take
home to bring the joy of reading to their homes, families, and friends.
If you have already donated, thank
you so much for your support! If you have friends and family who may also be
interested in helping our cause, please encourage them to learn more about us by
visiting our website at www.readingtokids.org.
By supporting Reading to Kids, you
are investing in the future of the children of Los Angeles. So please help us
reach our goal. You, our volunteers, are real heroes for giving your time and
yourselves to those less fortunate.
Sincerely,
