Happy Thursday!

May and Mother's Day are right around the corner, and Reading to Kids have "family"-themed Reading Clubs coming up on May 8th! Please click here to sign up for next month! We need extra help at Noble Elementary this month because we've got loads of kids due to attend, so please consider attending these clubs!

Our books this month feature wriggly babies, sneaky grandmas, mama pigs, and rebellious kids: in Fifth grade, we're reading chapters from the new classic Holes, while Third grade'sThe Hickory Chair features a grandmother known to her blind grandson by her familiar, homey sound and smell.

Our Curriculum Committee, made up of volunteers like you, has launched a new feature of the reading and craft time, the "Special Challenge", which offers you a little something extra to do. These games and activities will be a fun and entertaining way to enrich your craft time. Please click here to review all the books and the crafts, discussion topics, and special challenges for each!

Eat Guacamole, Raise Funds!

Do you like Mexican food? How about childhood literacy? Well, eat one and support the other at Reading to Kids Baja Fresh Fundraiser on April 28th!

From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. we'll be welcoming friends and volunteers at the Westwood Baja Fresh for food and 15% of all qualified sales -- just bring a flier and help us raise funds for the Reading Clubs! Come at 7:00 to join your fellow R2K fans for dinner! Please click here to access the flier and event details.

The BIG FIVE

Reading to Kids is speeding toward its milestone 5th Anniversary in May! Remember to plan on our May 26th celebration at El Cholo Restaurant. With delicious buffet dinner, Reading to Kids memories, MAGICIANS, and a fantastic raffle, this is an event you don't want to miss. If you can't make it to the next Reading Clubs (where we'll be selling tickets), please click here to access the ticket order form and event details!

Finally, don't forget to join us at the LA Times Festival of Books this weekend: http://www.latimes.com/extras/festivalofbooks -- we'll be meeting outside the Public Policy Building at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday to explore!

Sincerely,
