Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Esperanza Principal Brad Rumble has made the news again, this time in the LA Times article "Nearly half of L.A. County’s pavement may be unnecessary, new map finds".
Check out that article for photos of the garden spaces he brought to Esperanza when he first became principal there in 2014, as well as their larger green space now under construction.
As a throwback to October 2017, here is Esperanza Site Coordinator Mark May when he dressed up as principal Rumble, an avid bird watcher!

Our March "Music & Entertainment" reading club volunteer spots filled up very quickly, but we also know that people often realize they need to cancel - so please keep checking our website over the next two weeks for any cancellations that open a new spot for you!

Please support Team Reading to Kids as they run the Los Angeles Marathon on March 8th or the LA Big 5K on March 7th!
They have just another 11 days until March 8th to reach their ambitious $20,000 fundraising goal! If you can donate a buck a mile to your favorite runner, you'll help fuel them towards the finish line!
They have been training for months over hundreds of miles, and so far our runners have raised $10,425 in support of our
monthly reading clubs.
Your donation will make all their months and miles of training pay off in books for the kids we serve!
With every mile they train and every dollar they raise, these valiant souls help you inspire kids with a love of reading.

You can also help represent Reading to Kids during the Los Angeles Marathon on March 8th by handing out water to the runners!
Our group will be at Water Station Mile 9 at Hollywood Blvd & Hobart Blvd., on Sunday, March 8th from 5am - 11am.

FIVE MORE COMPUTERS OR TABLETS WANTED
TO GIVE TO KIDS IN APRIL!
Looking ahead to our April reading clubs, we would love to give away a computer or iPad/tablet to one lucky kid at each school!
If you or your employer have any working computers that are less than 6 years old running Windows 10 or later, or any Macintosh computers less than 7 years old, or any iPads or similar tablets, we can give them to deserving kids!
We especially need working computers (CPUs), whether or not they come with monitors, keyboards, etc. Please email us at

Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood will be on May 20th and in the fall! Please help us gather prizes for auctions and bingo winners that night!

We especially enjoy awarding gift certificates,

autographed items! Anything unique is great, too!

We are delighted to thank
The Albertsons Companies Foundation for another $2,500 grant supporting Reading to Kids!
We rely on funders like them to help us buy the hardcover books you read aloud and then donate to the schools' libraries, as well as the "prize books" the kids take home every month - a total of 197,231 prize books so far!
This is the seventh grant from The Albertsons Companies Foundation in the last nine years, all made possible by volunteers Prince Selvage III and Joe Morchy, who sponsored us through their employer.
