Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

It's Thanksgiving Eve, and we wanted to thank all of you - our thousands of volunteers, teachers, principals and school personnel, parents, friends, & supporters - for 26 years of joyful reading and support! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

RSVP FOR BIG DECEMBER 13TH READING CLUBS

We're two weeks away from our big "Family & The Spirit of Giving" reading clubs on December 13th, and we still have open spots at www.readingtokids.org for you and your friends!

With so many of our college volunteers studying for finals and traveling home in December, you can help recruit by joining our December 13th reading club event so your friends will see that on your wall. Then go to our website and sign up with us.

Please tweet, post to Bluesky, Facebook, and Instagram, and message your friends that we still need more volunteers.

Please also print out this flyer and post it at your work, school, church, synagogue, mosque, or favorite community bulletin board.

Santa is Joining Us -
One More Helper & Backup Santa Wanted!

Santa and Mrs. Claus at Alta Loma Elem. reading clubs

At least once in your life you should experience being Santa or one of his helpers - and our December 13th reading clubs may be your chance!

We already have our seven Santas, one for each school, but we still need someone willing to be Mrs. Claus or an assisting "elf" or assistant at MacArthur Park Elementary on December 13th. We would also like someone willing to be a "backup" Santa in case one of our seven Santas has to cancel.

There's nothing better than seeing the students' excitement when Santa visits our reading clubs! If you are interested in being Mrs. Claus or an assisting "elf" on December 13th, or our "backup" Santa, please e-mail us at info@readingtokids.org. You won't be able to read that day, but you'll see hundreds of smiling faces!

(FYI, the Pasadena Jaycees are providing our Santa suits for that Saturday!

If you are interested in volunteering for Operation Santa and bringing joy to children in need on Christmas Eve, click here or email them at OpSanta@PasadenaJaycees.org!)

EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEERS WANTED DEC. 13TH AS
SITE COORDINATORS,
SITE OPERATIONS HELPERS,
& MORE

Veteran volunteers help out with logistics

We have wonderful leaders as Site Coordinators to keep our program running smoothly each month - come join them!

We always need experienced volunteers to take on bigger roles with us by checking in volunteers as they arrive, helping train new and returning volunteers, being a GLC, or especially being a Site Operations Helper at any of our schools.

If you can help in any of those roles, please e-mail us at info@readingtokids.org to help create wonderful reading clubs!

ANNUAL FUND DRIVE UPDATE:
$30,000 MILESTONE & FIRST THREE ANGELS!

Reading to Kids Annual Fund Drive

Our 2025 Annual Fund Drive is going strong with $31,980 donated from 185 donors!

We also thank and congratulate Matthew Jones, Courtney Smythe, and Jessica Chong for being our first 2025 Annual Fund Drive Angels!

They each became Angels through their Facebook fundraisers by gathering donations from at least 10 of their friends. Thank you to them and everyone else gathering donations for Reading to Kids!

All who have donated can see their names listed on our 2025 Annual Fund Drive page. Donate and we can add your name there, too!

Our Annual Fund Drive lasts until December 31st, and our ambitious goal this year is to raise $70,000 from 500 donors.

Here's how you can help!

1) Make a pledge to donate by check or donate online today by visiting our 2025 Annual Fund Drive. Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated!

2) Show your support by asking friends and family to contribute! Visit our 2025 Annual Fund Drive page and look under the "Help us Fundraise!" header for resources, including information on creating your own personalized fundraising page on Facebook, our handy donor sheet for raising money with your friends and co-workers, tips for fundraising, and so much more.

Once they know about Reading to Kids, many of your friends and family will want to donate - we just need you to ask!

Also, if your workplace matches donations to nonprofits, please share with them your donation, and ask them to consider matching it. In this way you double your donation and share with others your enthusiasm for Reading to Kids!

FIVE MORE COMPUTERS OR TABLETS WANTED
TO GIVE TO KIDS!

Looking way ahead to our April reading clubs, we would love to give away a computer or iPad/tablet to one lucky kid at each school!

If you or your employer have any working computers that are less than 6 years old running Windows 10 or later, or any Macintosh computers less than 7 years old, or any iPads or similar tablets, we can give them to deserving kids!

We especially need working computers (CPUs), whether or not they come with monitors, keyboards, etc. Please email us at info@readingtokids.org to help make a kid very happy!

FOUR MORE RUNNERS NEEDED
FOR THE 2026 LA MARATHON OR LA 5K!

Do you know any runners? Are you a runner? Please forward this email to them and ask them to join Team Reading to Kids in the 2026 Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday, March 8th!

(Click on each photo above or below to see a larger version.)

This is our 12th time running the marathon, and we're looking for four more marathon runners to join us in one of the best marathons in the country.

If that distance is too daunting, you can join us in the LA 5K (that's just 3.1 miles) near Dodger Stadium the day before the marathon on Saturday, March 7th.

If you or a runner you know is interested in becoming one of our fundraising runners or creating a fundraising team, please email Chris Martin at marathon@readingtokids.org!

IMPORTANT NOTE: To register to run on behalf of Reading to Kids, you MUST receive from us a special web address to use when registering on the Los Angeles Marathon website.
