Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
What a week we are all experiencing in Los Angeles, and we very much hope you are in a safe space.
We are aware of two of our volunteers who have lost their homes, though please know they are physically fine and safe.
One of them, Politi Site Coordinator (and frequent December Santa) Rene Amy, was interviewed on CNN last Sunday. You can see his interview here, where he spoke about the community and people of Altadena, what they’ve been through, and that they will rebuild. Email us at

We support your efforts and desires to channel your concerns into positive, supportive action. The Pasadena Jaycees, who lend us Santa suits each year, provide this link to volunteer opportunities and physical item drop offs.
Last week we canceled Saturday's January 11th reading clubs, and we now turn towards the work needed to create our February reading clubs.
For February we will use the same January theme, "Mysteries & New Adventures", with the same books we planned to read aloud on January 11th.
Note: Any January RSVP does not carry over to February. If you are ready to commit to reading with us on February 8th, please submit your February RSVP at www.readingtokids.org. We'd love to have you join us!

SCHOOL AMBASSADORS WANTED
During the week of February 3rd we need ambassadors to visit any of our schools for an hour during the school day to encourage kids to come to the February 8th reading clubs. Email us at

GOT A NEW COMPUTER OR TABLET?
GIVE YOUR OLD ONE TO A KID!
At our February reading clubs we would love to give away a computer or iPad/tablet to one lucky kid at each school.
If you or your employer have any working computers that are less than 6 years old running Windows 10 or later, or any Macintosh computers less than 7 years old, or any iPads or similar tablets, we can give them to deserving kids!

MUSICIANS WANTED MARCH 8TH
Our March 8th reading clubs feature "Music & Celebration", and we are looking for musicians to perform at each of our eight partner schools. In the past we've had everything from Korean drum troupes to electric violin players to marching bands!

Team Reading to Kids in the 2025 Los

This is our 11th time running the marathon, and we're looking for more marathon runners to join us in one of the best marathons in the country.
Or, you can join us in the LA 5K (that's just 3.1 miles) near Dodger Stadium the day before the marathon on Saturday, March 15.

Our next Legendary Bingo fundraisers at
Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood will be on May 21st and in the fall, so we need your help gathering prizes for auctions and bingo winners!
To help you get started, here is information about Reading to Kids to share with potential donors, as well as a donation form for them to complete.
We especially enjoy awarding gift certificates,
amusement park and theater tickets, gift bags, and
autographed items! Anything unique is great, too!
