People's plans change, though, so please keep checking our website over the next few weeks for any cancellations!

(If you signed up for the reading clubs but can't join us, please cancel your RSVP now so that another volunteer can read with us.)

Attention experienced volunteers: we're now looking for those willing to be Training Coordinators, Check-In Helpers, Grade Level Coordinators, & Site Operations Helpers for these next reading clubs.

You can read about those roles here and email info@readingtokids.org if you want to help in any, even if your school is full!

Or, if you want to help in other ways (Curriculum, Marketing, etc.), and have volunteered with us three or more times, consider joining our Taskforce.

READING TO KIDS AMBASSADORS
NEEDED TO HELP KICK OFF
THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

The new school year is off to the races, and we still have many opportunities for you to help us promote Reading to Kids at our partner schools as a Reading to Kids Ambassador!

Here are two fun ways you can help:

• Classroom Walk-Throughs
• Back-to-School Nights

We'll supply everything you need, including what to say at the Back-to-School Nights!

These events set the course for the rest of the year and are a wonderful way to interact with the kids, parents, and teachers.

We gave soooo many school supplies to each kid who attended our August 10th reading clubs that we need to re-stock for next August!

We would be super grateful if you could donate these specific items:

NEW
Spiral notebooks
Colorful 2-pocket folders
3-ring binders
3-ring pencil pouches
Large erasers
Mechanical pencils (especially "fun" ones)

Pssst: Office Depot, Staples, and Target are promoting great back-to-school specials... If you're going to be there anyway, why not pick up a notebook (or ten!) for the kids?

Our next Legendary Bingo fundraiser at Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood will be on October 23rd! Please help us gather prizes for auctions and bingo winners that night!

To help you get started, here is information about Reading to Kids to share with potential donors, as well as a donation form for them to complete.

We especially enjoy awarding gift certificates, amusement park and theater tickets, gift bags, and autographed items! Anything unique is great, too!

If you work at or have a connection with products or services to offer, please help us by asking for a donation to our events.

FIVE MORE RUNNERS NEEDED
FOR THE 2025 LA MARATHON,
13.1 MILE CHARITY CHALLENGE,
OR LA 5K!

Do you know any runners? Are you a runner? Please forward this email to them and ask them to join Team Reading to Kids in the 2025 Los Angeles Marathonor 13.1 Mile Charity Challenge on Sunday, March 16th!

This is our 11th time running the marathon, and we're looking for five Charity Challenge runners (the last 13.1 miles of the course) and more full marathon runners to join us in one of the best marathons in the country.

If either of those distances is too daunting, you can join us in the LA 5K (that's just 3.1 miles) near Dodger Stadium the day before the marathon on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To register to run on behalf of Reading to Kids, you MUST receive from us a special web address to use when registering on the Los Angeles Marathon website.

THANK YOU MUNGER, TOLLES, & OLSON

We welcome and thank Munger, Tolles & Olson as a new Reading to Kids supporter, joining us in our quest to inspire children with a love of reading!

Their recent $4,000 grant via their MTO Paul Davis Fund help us continue to purchase both the hundreds of read-aloud books we donate each year to our seven partner schools' libraries, as well as the thousands of books we give to the kids who participate each month.
