Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Last Saturday 206 kids, 65 volunteers, and 21 teachers & staff
helped to make our March 12th virtual reading clubs a success! One of the kids even recreated a classic meme in the chat of their reading club Zoom session!
Kindergartners, 1st, and 2nd graders at MacArthur Park Elementary created remarkably abstract whiteboard creations like the one below after being inspired by this month's March books.

Below is a 3rd grade craft created by a Magnolia Elementary student inspired by our March books on Zoom.

8 MILESTONE READERS!
Virtual reading clubs count towards our milestones just as much as our face-to-face reading clubs!
Though we couldn't provide printed milestone certificates to them, we honored these 8 volunteers by sharing their milestone certificates at their schools' Site Coordinator debrief sessions after the clubs!
• Tori Mays & Angela Amador (10 reading clubs each)
• Elizabeth Gibbs (30 reading clubs)
• MacArthur Park Site Coordinator Satya Persaud (40 reading clubs)
Pictured below are the certificates for our four largest
milestones this month:
• Maggie Leung (70 reading clubs)
• Kat Boyd & Seth Dorfman (80 reading clubs each)
• Gratts Site Coordinator Tawnni Smith (90 reading clubs)

APRIL 9TH READING CLUBS ON ZOOM, RSVPS TO OPEN IN ABOUT A WEEK
We are eager for next month's virtual reading clubs on April 9th, but first need to recruit enough teachers to be Zoom hosts for them.
As soon as we confirm enough teacher hosts, you can then
submit your RSVP for those "The Wonders of Science & Technology" reading clubs!
These April reading clubs may be smaller because the schools will be starting their Spring Recess that Saturday, so be sure to sign up as soon as we open the RSVPs for them!
(We are also working with the principals about when we may be able to return to in-person reading clubs on their campuses.)

FINAL DAYS TO DONATE TO AND CHEER ON OUR MARATHON RUNNERS!
Team Reading to Kids has until this Sunday to reach their $20,000 fundraising goal!
Please donate a buck a mile today as they prepare to run the Los Angeles Marathon this Sunday or the LA Big 5K this Saturday!
They have been training for months, and so far our runners have raised $4,594 in support of our
monthly reading clubs.
Your donation will make all their months and miles of training pay off in books for the kids we serve!
HAND OUT WATER DURING THE MARATHON!
Help represent Reading to
Kids during the marathon by handing out water to the runners!
Our
group will be at Water Station Mile 5 at Glendale
