Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Last Saturday 303 kids, 91 volunteers, and 34 teachers & staff
helped to make our March 13th virtual reading clubs a success!
At Esperanza Elementary we had 82 kids overall, with 26 Kindergartners in the same Zoom reading club session!
Please join us in thanking The Lucky Band for their wonderful video they created just for Reading to Kids that we shared at the Saturday virtual reading clubs.
We don't yet have permission to share their Paletero Man video publicly, but please thank them on their Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/theluckyband_/!
Click on the above images to see two new Zoom whiteboard thank you cards created by 3rd graders at Esperanza and White elementary schools to thank the Water Buffalo Club for their support!
7 MILESTONE READERS!
Virtual reading clubs count towards our milestones just as
much as our face-to-face reading clubs!
Though we couldn't provide printed milestone certificates to
them, we honored these seven volunteers by
sharing their milestone certificates at their schools' Site
Coordinator debrief sessions after the clubs!
• Kelsey Fales &
Sachi Wong (10 reading clubs each)
Pictured below are the certificates for our five largest
milestones this month:
• Prince Selvage (60 reading clubs)
• Seth Dorfman (70 reading clubs)
• Sana Ahmed (90 reading clubs)
• Jinn Su (90 reading clubs)
• Jason Zelin (110 reading clubs)

APRIL 10TH READING CLUBS NEARLY CONFIRMED
We are eager for next month's virtual reading clubs on
April 10th, but first need to recruit enough
teachers to be Zoom hosts for them.
The schools' Spring Break is March 26th - April 4th, which may cause our teacher hosts to take longer to commit for our April 10th reading clubs.
Ideally, in about two weeks when we confirm enough
teacher hosts, we will then open
our RSVP system for those "Amazing Animals" reading clubs!

HELP US FIND GRANTS!
Did you know Reading to Kids receives about
half of our funding from corporation and foundation
grants? For example, over the last five years alone
six of our volunteers helped us receive $140,000 in
grants from their employers!
Please check to see if your employer offers grants
that Reading to Kids can apply to and let us know!
You may help us buy thousands of books for kids!

PLEASE HELP US FIND BINGO PRIZE & AUCTION ITEMS
We're starting to plan our next
Virtual Legendary Bingo on Zoom fundraiser for
May and need your help gathering
prizes for the bingo winners!
To help you get started, here is
information about Reading to Kids to share with
potential donors, as well as a
donation form for them to complete.
We especially enjoy awarding gift certificates,
gift bags, and
autographed items! Anything unique
is great, too!
If you work at or have a connection with products or
services to offer, please help us by asking for a donation
to our events.
_______________________________________________
Thanks, and once enough teachers are confirmed over the next few weeks we will open our RSVP system for our next reading clubs (always the second Saturday of each month) on April 10th.
