Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

This Saturday get ready for the "Lights! Camera! Action!" reading clubs, where we'll read books that have been made into movies! We'll have movie posters for every child, as well as a computer to give away to one lucky kid at each school!

Reading club spots will likely open up from now until the RSVPs close at 3pm tomorrow, so check back often to sign up.

If you previously signed up but now know you can not join us, be sure to cancel online to open your spot for someone else. Please note that the deadline for canceling is 3pm on Friday.

AMBASSADORS NEEDED

With the beginning of the 2013-14 school year, over the next few weeks we have over a dozen opportunities to publicize Reading to Kids at our partner schools.   To do that, we need your help as a Reading to Kids Ambassador.

There are three different ways you can help out: Kindergarten Orientations, Teacher Breakfast Deliveries, and Back-to-School-Nights.

We'll supply you with everything you need, including what to say at the Kindergarten Orientations. Although it's great if you can speak Spanish (even a little), all of our parent materials are bilingual, and there's always someone who can translate for you at the school.

These events set the course for the rest of the year and are a wonderful way to interact with the kids and their parents, as well as to honor the teachers. The more we publicize at the beginning of the school year, the more children and families we'll serve all year.

Please reply to this email or call the office if you want to know more about being an Ambassador and the schedule of events.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED

We are once again excited to give away school supplies at the September 14th reading clubs. Last September was such a successful month that our supplies this year are greatly depleted.

This week many stores such as Staples and Target are promoting great back-to-school specials. If you're going to be there anyway, why not pick up a folder or ten?

If you happen to have the following laying around (or want to pick some up at back-to-school sales), we would love to take them off your hands:

NEW
Erasers (Pearl type)
Mechanical pencils (especially "fun" ones)
Spiral notebooks
Binder folders
Pencil boxes

Please reply to this email or call the office if you have any supplies to donate. September is always a fun month, and made much more so with the giveaways!
