Reading to Kids News
September 1, 2011

Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Once upon a time, in the City of Angels there lived hundreds, nay thousands, of kind-hearted souls who loved to read to kids. With care and enthusiasm they would read of thrilling adventures, fascinating people, adorable animals, and faraway lands. The children would sit enraptured and excited at each turn of the page.

That time is today! On Saturday, September 10th, over 400 volunteers will gather at our seven partner schools to ring in the new school year at our "Fantasy, Folklore, and Fairytales" reading clubs.  Please click here to join us, or if you've already signed up and can't make it, please cancel to make room for another volunteer.

A Major Milestone!

Reading to Kids is getting ready to celebrate. Since we began reading to kids in May 1999 we have read 17,500 hardcover books and donated every single one of them to our partner school libraries.

We also give every child who attends our reading clubs a brand new book to take home! The kids treasure these books, reading them again and again, as well as sharing them with family and friends. Soon Reading to Kids will be giving away our 100,000th prize book! We'll keep you posted on our celebration of this major milestone!

Thanks, and have a great Labor Day Weekend!
