Dear Friends of Reading to Kids, This Saturday is a very special day for all of us. May 9, 2009 marks the ten-year anniversary of our very first monthly reading clubs. So far, we have sold over 240 tickets to our Tenth Anniversary Event (click here to see a list of attendees), but plenty of tickets are still available. This event is very important for us. In years past, we have been able to rely on funding from foundations and corporations to sustain most of our budget. This year, those same funders have already indicated that they will be cutting back on whom they fund. Therefore, a large turnout at this Saturday's event will not only help us raise money to sustain our existing operations, but it will demonstrate to these funders that Reading to Kids has broad support in the community. During our Annual Fund Drive last year, we asked for your help to demonstrate such community support, and you responded brilliantly! We ended up setting a new record in 2008 with almost 900 donors! This year, we have moved our annual comedy night event to a larger space -- The Montalbán in Hollywood. Nike Sportswear has generously donated the theater for us to use. Our fabulous lineup of comedians have generously donated their time to perform. Now, we need you to do your part. Please join us for our Tenth Anniversary Event on Saturday.
