February Reading Clubs

Despite the President's Day holiday weekend and the love in the air on last Saturday's Valentine's Day Clubs, we had fantastic volunteer attendance with 246 of you coming out to read to kids! There were over 550 of the little rascals in attendance!

For a complete list of volunteers who came to the clubs last Saturday, please click here!

We filled up fast last month, so please sign up soon for next month's Reading Clubs on March 13. February's over in just 9 days, so please click here to register yourself for next time!

Children across the country will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's 100th birthday this year with festive events at elementary schools -- and our 4 participating schools are no exception! Reading to Kids volunteers have been warmly invited to participate in read-alouds at each of our schools.

Magnolia Elementary School will host one-on-one readings with students and volunteers on Friday, February 27th. There are two sessions: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m and 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Please call Assistant Principal Marcela Ramirez at (213) 748-6281 to RSVP.

Esperanza Elementary School will host group readings with volunteers reading to classes on Tuesday, March 2nd. There are several sessions between 8:15 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Please contact Assistant Principal Julie Dixon at (213) 484-0326 to schedule a reading time.

We encourage each of you to consider participating in one of the schools' Read Across America days if you have the time to do so.  The schools really appreciate it when the Reading to Kids volunteers show up for these events. Specifics are still pending for the Gratts and Noble events; we'll have the information for you about those events by the beginning of next week!

That's all for now, everyone! Thanks for your continuing support and enthusiasm!
