Synopsis: (from the publisher) Dora and her best friend, Boots, go on more adventures than you can count. Now Dora fans can enjoy many of their favorite Dora stories all in one book! This best-selling collection includes "Dora's Backpack," "Little Star," "Happy Birthday, Mami!" "Meet Diego!" "Dora Saves the Prince," "Dora's Treasure Hunt," and "Good Night, Dora!"

Discussion topics for before reading:
•  What?s an explorer?
•  Do you know Dora the Explorer? What Dora songs do you know? Sing!
•  Do you wish upon stars? What do you wish for?
•  Ever been to the library? What did you do there? Do you have a library card?

Discussion topics for during/after reading:
•  Each story allows for the children?s participation -- encourage this.
•  Which story was your favorite? Why?
•  How else could you have returned the star to the sky?
•  What do you put in your backpack for school?

Craft ideas:
•  Make a map from your house to the school, or from the class room to the auditorium.
•  Volunteers cut out a star for the children, have them decorate with their wishes.
•  Make a paper backpack: fold paper almost in half and glue along the sides, then fold down the top flap.

Special activities:
•  Act out one of Dora?s expeditions (perhaps follow a map to the prize books), and sing the songs they know.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
