Synopsis: Reading goes to the dogs in this timeless Beginner Book edited by Dr. Seuss. From big dogs and little dogs to red, green, and blue dogs, dogs going up and dogs going fast . . . who knew dogs were so busy? And laughter will ensue at the repeated question “Do you like my hat?”

Discussion topics for before reading:
•  What is the dog doing?
•  Do you think dogs can really drive?
•  Where do you think the dog is going?
•  What is he wearing?

Discussion topics for during/after reading:
•  On page 28 what are the dogs riding on?
•  What are some games and activities that you like to play?
•  Where or why do you think the dogs are going up the tree?

Craft ideas:
•  Make an origami puppy face using construction paper. Have kids decorate they way they want. Example on Pinterest.
•  Make a dog puppet using a brown paper bag. Cut out the dogs eyes, arms, legs, ears, etc, from construction paper and glue to the bag. Example on Pinterest.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
