Synopsis: Did you know that monsters love to scribble, scribble, mix, dance, and wiggle! Why? Because monsters love to make new colors! Celebrate along with the hilarious monsters in this wild and energetic picture book from author-illustrator Mike Austin. Mixing and discovering color has never been so much fun!

Discussion topics for before reading:
•  What colors do the monsters on the cover love?
•  Why do you think monsters love colors?

Discussion topics for during/after reading:
•  What are the monsters' favorite colors?
•  How do the monsters make new colors?
•  What new colors do the monsters make?
•  What are your favorite colors?
•  Do you like to make new colors? Do you like to scribble? Dance? Wiggle?

Craft ideas:
•  Make a rainbow with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Draw monsters coloring in the rainbow, just like they do end of the story.
•  Mix two primary-colored crayons together to make new colors. For example: red and yellow make orange, red and blue make purple, and yellow and blue make green.

Special activities:
•  Wiggle and dance like the colorful monsters.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
