Synopsis: Tom is a little panda who is about to start kindergarten. When the first day of school arrives, Tom's family walks him to school. But when the parents are about to leave, Tom won't let go of his parents' legs. The teacher invites the family to stay, and they all have a great time. On the next day, Tom is ready to be independent, but the parents are now a bit reluctant to leave the fun and free environs of the school. This is a charming and funny story illustrated with vivid watercolor artwork.

Craft ideas:
•  Draw your first day of kindergarten.
•  Make sailor hats or googly monster hats.

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
