Synopsis: This festive book introduces the history and practices of Kwanzaa--the annual week-long reunion of family and friends when millions of African-Americans celebrate their heritage.

Discussion topics: To be posted soon ...

Craft ideas:
•  Divide a piece of paper into 7 sections, one for each of the "principles" and draw you or your family doing something that represents that principle.
•  Draw a picture of you celebrating Kwanzaa with your family. How is it different from how you celebrate your winter holiday?

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
