Program Coordinator Position Available

Reading to Kids is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to work under the
direction of our Program Director. As one of three paid employees of the agency,
the Program Coordinator will have an exceptional opportunity to work with
a grassroots nonprofit organization.
This individual
must be able to embody the organization’s mission, inspire others to become
involved, and serve as a point-person for thousands of volunteers and community
members. This position offers the opportunity to help direct the growth of
Reading to Kids and to bring the joy of
reading to many more children in Los Angeles.
The Program
Coordinator serves in a variety of capacities, including but not limited to the
following:

Volunteer Coordination |
|
Volunteer recruitment, maintaining relationships with volunteer
groups, and ensuring and improving the quality of the Reading to
Kids volunteer experience. |

School Relations |
|
Working with our current schools to coordinate each month’s
reading clubs, reaching out to potential partner schools. |
|
Community Outreach |
|
Public representation of Reading to Kids at fairs,
school events, and meetings. Outreach to community organizations,
individuals, and businesses. |

Development and Fundraising |
|
Assisting with fundraising events; outreach to local businesses
for in-kind donations; assisting with grantwriting. |
|
Board/Taskforce Relations |
|
Participation in Board and Taskforce meetings and involvement
with Taskforce committees as a facilitator and coordinator. |
|
Administration |
|
Data recording and analysis post-reading clubs. Ordering,
inventory, and distribution of prize books. |
Qualifications for the position should include a minimum of a B.A./B.S. degree
with experience in volunteer management and program coordination. An ideal
candidate will have outstanding written and oral communication skills,
exceptional people skills, a keen attention to detail, an energetic personality,
an enthusiasm for the benefits that our program offers, and a genuine motivation
to work toward providing children with an enthusiasm for reading.
Starting salary
will be between $30,000 and $35,000 plus benefits.
