Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Our August 9th "Back to School Fun" reading clubs are this Saturday, and a few volunteer spots are open!
Please
click here to see if we have openings today or tomorrow until 3pm, since we always have a few cancelations the days before each reading club.
(If you signed up for the reading clubs but can't join us,
please
cancel your RSVP now so that another volunteer can read with us.)
We especially need more of our experienced volunteers to help as Check-In Helpers, Grade Level Coordinators, & Site Operations Helpers.
These August reading clubs are smaller again because the schools are still on the final weekend of their summer break. Thanks to your generosity, we'll also be giving school supplies to the kids this Saturday morning!
THREE MORE LEADERS WANTED: GLCs, CHECK-IN HELPER, AND SITE OPERATIONS HELPERS
Have you volunteered with us a few times recently? Then this Saturday would be a great time to step into any of our vital Operations roles - all training very pleasantly provided!
Please e-mail us at
info@readingtokids.org if you can volunteer for any of the following roles this Saturday:
- GLC at Alta Loma (1st grade) or Esperanza (3rd grade)
- Check-in Helper at Alta Loma
- Site Operations Helper at 8am at any school - discover the joy of being a Site Coordinator!
If your school is full and you are an experienced volunteer with us, let us know if you can fill any of the above roles and we'll respond about adding in your RSVP.
Mark your calendars for Sept. 13th for our big September reading clubs!

READING TO KIDS AMBASSADORS
NEEDED NEXT WEEK AND ONWARDS TO HELP KICK OFF THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR!
With the 2025-26 school year beginning next Thursday, we already have many opportunities for you to help us promote Reading to Kids at our partner schools as a Reading to Kids Ambassador.
There are three different ways you can help:
Kindergarten Orientations, Teacher Welcome Breakfast Deliveries next Wed. morning at 7am, and
Back-to-School Nights.
We'll supply everything you need, including what to say at the Kindergarten Orientations. Although it's great if you can speak Spanish (even a little), all our parent materials are bilingual, and there's always someone who can translate for you at the school.
These events set the course for the rest of the year and are
a wonderful way to interact with the
kids, parents, and teachers.
If you have volunteered as a reader with us before and are interested in being an Ambassador, please e-mail us at
info@readingtokids.org or call (310) 479-7455.

PLEASE HELP US FIND BINGO PRIZES
Our next Legendary Bingo fundraiser at
Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood will be on October 21st! Please help us gather prizes for auctions and bingo winners that night!
To help you get started, here is information about Reading to Kids to share with potential donors, as well as a donation form for them to complete.
We especially enjoy awarding gift certificates,
amusement park and theater tickets, gift bags, and
autographed items! Anything unique is great, too!
If you work at or have a connection with products or services to offer, please help us by asking for a donation to our events.
You may have gift cards you haven't used which would make excellent prizes if you'd like to donate them to us! E-mail us at info@readingtokids.org to arrange mailing them to us!

HELP US FIND GRANTS!
Did you know Reading to Kids receives about
half of our funding from corporate and foundation
grants? For example, over the last five years alone
seven of our volunteers helped us receive $145,000 in
grants from their employers!
Please check to see if your employer offers grants
that Reading to Kids can apply to and let us know at
info@readingtokids.org!
You may help us buy thousands of books for kids!
