Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

We hope you've been enjoying a summer read in a cool spot!

We are looking for another 38 readers for our August 12th "Arts & Creativity" clubs, so please click here to submit your RSVP to join us that morning!

Kindergartners and volunteers at Magnolia Elementary

Please then also "join" our August 12th reading club event on Facebook and invite your friends!

These August reading clubs will be a little smaller because the schools will still be on their summer break, so be sure to sign up early!

PLEASE STEP UP TO A
BIGGER VOLUNTEER ROLE

Prince training new volunteers at Charles White Elementary

We urgently need experienced volunteers to take on more leadership with us by helping train new and returning volunteers, being a GLC, or especially being a Site Operations Helper at any of our schools.

If you have volunteered with us a few times and can help in any of those roles, please e-mail us at info@readingtokids.org to help create wonderful reading clubs!

Or, if you want to help in other ways (Curriculum, Marketing, etc.), and have volunteered with us three or more times, consider joining our Taskforce.

HELP US FIND GRANTS!

Patricia Bergey story at her employer, Numerator

Did you know Reading to Kids receives about half of our funding from corporation and foundation grants? For example, over the last five years alone six of our volunteers helped us receive $103,000 in grants from their employers!

Please check to see if your employer offers grants that Reading to Kids can apply to and let us know at info@readingtokids.org! You may help us buy thousands of books for kids!

We are especially looking for someone who works at the The Capital Group Companies.

GENX LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
50 YEARS AND OLDER

GenX Flyer

Be the change – become a GenX volunteer!

Generation Xchange
(GenX) is a program that trains and places retired volunteers in pre-K - 5th grade classrooms across LAUSD campuses!

They are currently recruiting volunteers for the upcoming academic year (2023-24), and need interested retirees who are dedicated to working with the next generation of learners!

They recently added two new schools - 42nd Street Elementary (Leimert Park) and our very own Esperanza Elementary!

If you would like to be a part of GenX legacy, contact the Associate Director of the program, D'Ann Morris by email at DMMorris@mednet.ucla.edu or leave a message at (310) 267-5114!
