Despite the end of their school year last Friday, on Saturday reading clubs 81 kids, 56 volunteers, and 18 teachers & staff
helped to make our June 11th reading clubs a success!
A dozen Kindergartners, 1st, and 2nd graders at Politi all read together in the same Zoom session, and when given a choice which book to hear read aloud, they chose for our volunteers to read all three to them!

Duck & Goose (1st Grade),
and
The Princess and The Pony (2nd Grade).

Virtual reading clubs count towards our milestones just as much as our face-to-face reading clubs!
Though we couldn't provide printed milestone certificates to them, we honored these four volunteers by sharing their milestone certificates at their schools' Site Coordinator debrief sessions after the clubs!
• Liz Yoon (100 reading clubs!)
• Jami Olson (120 reading clubs!)
• Esperanza Site Coordinator Mark May (230 reading clubs!)
• David Rickard (240 reading clubs!)
By joining us for her 100th reading club, Liz also earned her 100th reading club magnetic name badge!

JULY 9TH READING CLUBS ON ZOOM,
RSVPS TO OPEN NEXT WEEK
We are eager for next month's virtual reading clubs on July 9th, but first need to recruit enough teachers to be Zoom hosts for them.
As soon as we confirm enough teacher hosts, you can then submit your RSVP for those "Amazing Animals" reading clubs!
Our summer reading clubs are smaller, so mark your calendars for both July 9th and August 13th to help us keep students reading throughout the summer! Be sure to sign up as soon as we open the RSVPs for them!
(We continue working with the LAUSD about when we may be able to return to in-person reading clubs on their campuses.)
OPERATIONS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
For our virtual reading clubs we need experienced volunteers to
be a second or third virtual Site Coordinator
in our Zoom reading clubs for any of our schools.
Being a Site Coordinator guarantees you a (non-reading) spot at our next reading clubs, so please e-mail us at
info@readingtokids.org if you can help us create wonderful reading clubs!
