Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Even though last Saturday was the first day of their summer vacation, 278 kids, 41 teachers & staff, and 105 volunteers helped to make our June 13th reading clubs a success!

These were just our second virtual reading clubs, and while we don't have parental permission to share photos of the fun the kids have in them, we can show you how they bring out the fun sides of our volunteers!

JULY 11TH READING CLUBS
NOT YET CONFIRMED

after the June 13th clubs

We are eager for next month's virtual reading clubs on July 11th, but first need to recruit enough teachers to be Zoom hosts for them.

As soon as we confirm enough teacher hosts, anyone who has volunteered with us at any past reading clubs will be able to submit an RSVP on our home page for those reading clubs. So, please keep checking www.readingtokids.org to see if you can submit an RSVP!

Our summer reading clubs are smaller, so mark your calendars for July 11th and August 8th. Help us keep students reading throughout the summer!

10, 20, & 100TH CLUBS
MILESTONE READERS!

Virtual reading clubs count towards our milestones just as much as our face-to-face reading clubs!

Three June 2020 Milestone Certificates

Though we couldn't provide printed milestone certificates to them, we honored Chris Danby (10 reading clubs, mostly as a Site Coordinator), Daphne Slater-Yemofio (20 reading clubs), & Nish Narayan (100 reading clubs) by sharing their milestone certificates at their schools' Site Coordinator debrief sessions after the clubs and at our post-reading clubs Zoom "lunch" gathering!

By joining us for his 100th reading club, Nish is now the proud bearer of our 100th reading club magnetic name badge - the 29th volunteer to earn one!

HELP US FIND GRANTS!

Jessica Brown-Clark with Target grant check

Did you know Reading to Kids receives about half of our funding from corporation and foundation grants? For example, over the last five years alone six of our volunteers helped us receive $140,000 in grants from their employers!

Please check to see if your employer offers grants that Reading to Kids can apply to, and let us know! You may help us buy thousands of books for kids!

Thanks, and once enough teachers are confirmed, we will open our RSVP system for our next reading clubs (always the second Saturday of each month) on July 11th.

Sincerely,

Charlie Orchard, Talethe Jackson, & Anthony Reyes
