Our September 12th reading clubs are filling up nicely, though we still have spots available. Please sign up and join us!

We can also use New and Returning Volunteer trainers and Volunteer Check-In helpers on the 12th. If you have volunteered with us before and can step into these roles, please e-mail info@readingtokids.org.

If you signed up for the reading clubs but can't join us, please cancel your RSVP so that another volunteer can read with us!

Next week leads up to the 9/12 reading clubs, and we can use your help to conduct quick classroom walk-throughs to encourage kids to come to the reading clubs that Saturday.

We'll supply everything you need, so we just need folk (ideally in pairs) who can go to a school or two next week (specific times still to be determined).

The kids delight in seeing our Ambassadors, often calling out "Reading to Kids!" when they see us!

Thanks to a couple of generous volunteers last week we are closer to having the school supplies we want to give away at the September 12th reading clubs. Here are the supplies we still need:

NEW:

• 90 more binder folders
• 100 3-ring binders and/or packages of filler paper
• 15 3-ring pencil pouches

Stores such as Office Depot, Staples and Target are promoting great back-to-school specials. If you're going to be there anyway, why not pick up a folder or ten?

Join Team Reading to Kids in the 2016 Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon! Be a part of team Reading to Kids as you run in one of the best marathons in the country on Sunday, February 14th (Valentine's Day).

You can run either the full marathon or a half-marathon, and the dollars you raise will go to support our monthly reading clubs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: to register to run on behalf of Reading to Kids, you MUST receive from us a special web address to use when registering on the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon website.

Mark your calendars to play Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood! If you've been before, you know it's a blast. If you haven't, it's time to see what you've been missing!

There is a $20 suggested donation at the door (cash only, please!) which includes 9 regular bingo games and one grand prize bingo game with fantastic prizes! The show is R-rated and a ton of fun!
