Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

We had a terrific time at our July Reading Clubs last Saturday, where we celebrated "Independence and Growing Up" with 289 kids, 188 volunteers, 63 parents, and 18 teachers & staff! Our reading clubs may be a bit smaller in the summer, but it's a great time to read a terrific book, make fun crafts, and really get to know our kids.

Be sure to RSVP early for our August 9th "Arts and Entertainment" Reading Clubs. The August reading clubs are smaller so their spots fill up extra quickly.

After you sign up, please also visit our Facebook event so your friends will see that you're attending and you can invite others to join you!

Our August Reading Clubs are extra special because every child receives a movie poster, we give away other fun prizes, and one lucky student at each school wins a refurbished computer!

AMBASSADORS NEEDED

With the beginning of the 2014-15 school year next month, between July 24th - Sept. 19th we'll have more than a dozen opportunities to publicize Reading to Kids at our partner schools.   To do that, we need your help as a Reading to Kids Ambassador.

There are three different ways you can help out: Kindergarten Orientations, Teacher Breakfast Deliveries, and Back-to-School-Nights.

We'll supply everything you need, including what to say at the Kindergarten Orientations. Although it's great if you can speak Spanish (even a little), all of our parent materials are bilingual, and there's always someone who can translate for you at the school.

These events set the course for the rest of the year and are a wonderful way to interact with the kids and their parents, as well as to honor the teachers. The more we publicize at the beginning of the school year, the more children and families we'll serve all year.

Please reply to this email or call the office if you want to know more about being an Ambassador and the schedule of events.

THANK YOU UNION BANK FOUNDATION

We would like to thank the Union Bank Foundation for their generous donation of $1,000!

Their grant will help fund our monthly reading clubs this year, enabling us to inspire children with a love of reading. We welcome them as our newest supporter!

Thanks, and we hope to see you at our August 9th Reading Clubs!
