Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

We are gearing up for some "far out" reading clubs on September 14th. The only thing we need is YOU. We still need 291 volunteers, and we can only get there with your help.

If you haven't already, sign up now! Please be sure to also encourage your social network (real world and virtual) to sign up as well. A great way to do this is to share the Facebook event (please make sure everyone knows they still have to sign up on our website). You can also print out this flyer and post it at your work or favorite community bulletin board.

Please note that the September Reading Clubs fall on Yom Kippur. If this changes your availability, please be sure to cancel your RSVP.

THANK YOU BAMKO INC. EMPLOYEES FOR YOUR GENEROUS SCHOOL SUPPLY DONATION

Thank you to Caitlin Spinelli-Moore and the employees of BAMKO Inc. for your generous school supply drive. The sheer quantity of supplies donated was really amazing and will go a long way towards ensuring every child who attends the September Reading Clubs will have a school supply to take home.

We are still collecting school supplies. If you have already purchased something you intended to donate to us, please contact the office so we can coordinate the best time for you to drop off the items!

GOODBYE FROM SKYLAR

After three very memorable years at Reading to Kids, it's with a heavy heart I say goodbye to the Program Manager position this week as I head off to begin the Masters of Social Welfare program at UCLA.

It has been such a pleasure to meet so many warm, dedicated people through Reading to Kids. My time here has been filled with some of the most amazing people this city has to offer. Whether volunteers or faculty and staff from the schools, I stand in awe of your commitment and passion for serving the youth of Los Angeles. A special thank you to the kids and their families for making Reading to Kids part of your second Saturday of the month. Seeing the kids grow has been the greatest reward of this job.

Although I won't be in the office every day, I will be at the reading clubs whenever I can. I applied for this position three years ago because I loved this organization so much. That love has only grown and will continue as I reenter the ranks of a volunteer.

All the best,
Skylar

MAGICIANS NEEDED

If you or someone you know possesses the powers of magic and illusion, please contact the office. We need magicians for each of our seven schools at our October 12th reading clubs!

Thanks, and be sure to encourage your friends to volunteer!
