Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
Thanks so much to the 513 volunteers who have signed up to read this Saturday! With less than a week to go before our "Winter Wonderlands" reading clubs we still need 156 more volunteers! Click here to sign up.
The December reading clubs are typically our largest each year, featuring a visit from Santa, a holiday raffle for the kids, and fun holiday books and crafts.
Thanks to Hoover Elementary staff for helping to pick out our December books! Take a peek at what you will be reading on Saturday:
*Kindergarteners will learn new lyrics to the classic Christmas carol in Carolyn Conahan's The Twelve Days of Christmas Dogs.
*Second graders will discover what happens when the holidays don't go according to plan in Mooseltoe by Margie Palatini.
*Fourth graders will learn of the Santa Claus inside all of us in Patricia Polacco's Welcome Comfort.
HELP US RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS!
Please invite your friends, family, coworkers, and anyone else who may be interested to volunteer with us on Saturday! Below is a sample e-mail that you can send out.

Volunteer with Reading to Kids this Saturday!
Reading to Kids organizes monthly reading clubs on the second Saturday of every month at eight downtown Los Angeles elementary schools. The reading clubs run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pairs of volunteer readers read aloud to small groups of students from the elementary school (typically between 4 and 6 children per group) in a fun environment. Teachers at the elementary school provide supervision and guidance throughout the morning.
The next reading clubs are December 13, 2008. Join us for "Winter Wonderlands" reading clubs featuring a visit from Santa, a holiday raffle for the kids, and fun holiday books!
