Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
As we begin a new year, I want to sincerely thank all of the volunteers, school faculty and staff, and supporters of Reading to Kids for all of the efforts they have made in inspiring children with a love of reading.
2006 was a record-breaking year for Reading to Kids! We expanded our reading clubs to two new schools, Hoover and Politi. We broke attendance records in December with 1,301 students, 326 volunteers, and 207 parents! We gave out 8,845 prize books to children and their families, helping to build their home libraries and continue reading at home. We donated 1,335 hardcover books to our participating schools' libraries. We doubled the number full-time staff with the addition of Sarah Kolterman as our Program Coordinator. Finally, we raised over $35,000 from individuals in our Annual Fund Drive!
The end result is that thousands of children were provided with an increased enthusiasm for books and reading that can last a lifetime. This increased enthusiasm can lead to a more successful education, increased achievement, and, indeed, a happier and more successful life. Each of you has made this possible!
Thanks to all of you! We look forward to an even better 2007!
The January 13th Reading Clubs are coming soon and will be a great way to start the new year! Sign up for the first reading clubs of 2007 by clicking here to RSVP!
