Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Reading to Kids has fall internship opportunities!

Learn the ins and outs of running a small non-profit and enjoy a relaxed and fun working environment by joining Reading to Kids as a fall intern! Interns support the day-to-day operations of the office, in addition to taking on individual, long-term projects. Projects include but are not limited to: grant-writing, program evaluation, volunteer coordination, community and school relations, and reading club operations.

OCTOBER READING CLUBS!

Come one, come all to the October 14th Reading Clubs!  Click here to sign up for our "Halloween and Magic" clubs.

Halloween offers such a great opportunity for creativity and storytelling!  Let your imagination run wild as you journey with Lulu into her magical hat to discover the secret to her family's magic, or take a ride with Hagrid on his flying motorcycle as you save Harry Potter from the torturous Muggles.

To find out more about Lulu's Hat by Susan Meddaugh, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling, and our other Halloween books, crafts, and discussion questions, click here!

THANK YOU GRANT THORNTON!

Thank you Grant Thornton LLP for donating $1,000 to Reading to Kids!

Each month, Grant Thornton encourages employees in their Los Angeles, Irvine, and Woodland Hills offices to donate to a local nonprofit organization through their "A Passion for Our Community, Jeans Day." Employees can wear jeans for the day if they make a small donation to the selected organization. Thanks to Reading to Kids volunteers and Grant Thornton employees Suzie Doran and Hanifa Farooq, we were the selected organization last month. We received $500 from 59 individuals and Grant Thornton matched that amount!

WHAT CAN I BUY WITH $10?

A movie ticket ... 1/4 of a tank of gas(!) ... 2.5 Iced Mochas ...

What can Reading to Kids buy with just $10?

A gift of $25 could buy two new hardcover

A gift of $100 could pay for a single child's prize
books from Kindergarten to Fifth Grade!

You Make it Happen!  Your donations during our Annual Fund Drive enable us to continue to offer this wonderful program.  To join your fellow volunteers in donating to Reading to Kids, please click here.
